AARON MICHAEL FANTHORPE BIOGRAPHY by Aaron Michael Fanthrope
I am Aaron Michael Smith, and this is my biography for the website, for all those people out there who are just dying to know things about me… (cough). I was going to write this in the third person and do it up very formal, but that’s not what I’m about. I like talking straight. Some people call it shooting from the hip, but enough of this, on with the main event. I was born in Fort Saint John British Columbia, Canada on January 04, 1982 at 8:42 PM. I’m the eldest son of Michael and Debby Smith, and I was raised in the Peace Country of north-eastern British Columbia, Canada. Brought up in a loving home where I was taught of God and family, to work hard – sometimes, very hard – to reach for my dreams, and never let anyone tell me can’t do something, I was blessed with something of an idyllic childhood, for which I am most grateful. At a young age I and my siblings were introduced to sci-fi, which became something of a passion and influence on my life. While growing up, I and my younger brothers, Patrick and Vance, built model space ships and our, what some would call, ‘fertile imaginations’, led us to create universes and adventures in which to travel. When I was about 11, I tried my hand at writing for the first time with a book called 'Condor'. It was a love story set against the back drop of space travel and evil villains. The book became the roots of what is now Genesis Project, and it included such familiar Genesis Project names as Pmac and Foog. Condor, and other story endeavours throughout the years – from a book called, You are Never Alone, to an adventure series called UPA – became Genesis Project, which is, as of 2008, the accumulated work of 15 years. Becoming a fan of fantasy in 2000, I and my brother Patrick reshaped what had been Genesis Project into a new adventure series – what GP is now – that wove the aspects of science fiction and fantasy together. I co-authored Genesis Project: After the End, Comes the Beginning with Patrick and followed by Genesis Project: Heirs of Ashes. I have written seventeen novels, in draft form at this point, and several short stories, some which are posted on my website, and I keep working on it. With the Genesis Project series, I hope to reach people with a high adventure story that integrates my deep beliefs on the importance of family, love and God. I spend most of his time writing, editing, and writing some more. I am a fan of Harry Potter, Star Wars and other adventure stories like that about liberty and love. Currently my favourite writer is British author Karen Traviss. I like the way she writes gritty stories, but still seems to keep things hopeful. I like spending time with my family, singing, acting, watching movies, and generally enjoying life. I believe that we are meant to be happy, but it is up to us to find happiness, be it in our family, in the weather, or in whatever comes our way. Happiness isn’t something that can be bought. We cannot get it through the acclaim we gain in the eyes of the world. We cannot live each day believing that happiness will arrive tomorrow, and we cannot count on other people to give it to us. It is up to us to find happiness in every situation. I believe we can find that happiness in good times and in bad times, when we are on the very top or on the very bottom. I’ve seen it work in my life and I wouldn’t give it up for absolutely anything. Currently I reside in north-eastern British Columbia, Canada where the wide sky and beautiful scenery inspire worlds of wonder and adventure in which to expand the universe of Genesis Project. What a nice and corny way to end this.
